Top Five Beauty Blunders you NEED to stop!

#1 Putting liquid/cream product on top of powders
Liquids and creams must be applied before powder products for the best result. Applying liquid or cream products on top of powder will cause for difficult blending and a patchy complexion. This includes cream highlighters! If you’re desperate for a touch up, and have no other choice, we recommend refreshing the skin with a finishing spray to ‘reset’ the face before application.
#2 Applying harsh eyeliner across your whole lower waterline
|
Some people will get away with this more than others – depending on your eye shape. However, usually a fully lined lower lash line is likely to make the eye appear smaller, especially when applied directly on the waterline. Rather, smudge the liner out with some eyeshadow, apply the liner beneath the waterline, or apply the liner to half way! If you want to make the eye appear bigger, try a beige or nude liner.
#3 Contouring with bronzer
Ever wonder why a lot of contour kits have so many different colours? Bronzer is warm-toned, designed to give the face some colour, glow, and sun! Contour is cool-toned and a bit ashier, designed to mimic the appearance of shadows to give the face a more sculpted appearance.
Used correctly in conjunction, they’re a killer combo, however a lot of people seem to opt for only one. Use bronzer more sparsely with a larger brush, and contour more precisely to achieve depth. The beauty of using them together? The look is beautifully blended with no harsh and dark lines!
#4 Using finishing sprays as setting sprays
Finishing sprays like the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and MAC Fix + are not setting sprays! They set out to condense the multiple layers of makeup and create a fresh, skin-like finish.
Conversely, setting sprays like the Urban Decay All-Nighter actually create a layer acting like a protective sheet to avoid movement and transfer. Both a must have in beauty regimes – but great for different things!
But please... stop with the rosewater spray.
#5 Over-lining the corners of your lips
We’re all for overlining to add that extra bit of definition and plumpness to the lips. However, if you’re seeking a subtle enhancement, you’ll usually give it away if you overline the corners. Therefore, apply the lip liner just outside the natural lip line in the centre of the lips, and return to the natural lip line before reaching the outside of the lips.
